Astroboy

It would be great if I could get a job working on this picture:

Sony Pictures Entertainment has signed SAMURAI JACK and DEXTER’S LABORATORY creator Genndy Tartakovsky to write and direct a live-action version of the anime classic ASTROBOY, reports VARIETY. The long in-development picture will be produced by Don Murphy of Angryfilms, and Lisa Henson and Kristine Belson of Jim Henson Pictures.

The feature started out as a live-action project in 1997, but was shelved after Steven Spielberg went into production on A.I., which also featured a robot boy who replaces a dead child. Then the film when into development as a CG animated film to be directed by DINOSAUR helmer Eric Leighton, but that project just churned in development hell. Now the film has been resurrected as a live-action film again with Tartakovsky heading up the project.

ASTROBOY was created by the father of Japanese animation Osamu Tezuka and was the first anime TV series to come to the U.S. The cult classic tale follows a scientist who builds a robot replacement for his dead son.

2-2-2 Shows in 1

We did two shows at Mike’s School, Barnhart today. They went really well. The kids really seemed to enjoy them and we had an audience of about 150 per show. It was fun. The first show was for grades K-4 and we performed Sleeping Beauty in Outer Space. The second show was for grades 5-8. We performed Curse of the Pirate’s Tattoo and Mike’s students performed a short show before ours. Good stuff.

Sand & Sea

My girlfriend and I went to the beach today. After 2 hours of searching for parking, we found a place in a nearby neighborhood. We had fun. The waves are nice here. Jennifer came home pink ‘though.

I did receive some bad news today:
Moodoo Puppets will NOT have a booth at Comic-Con. The funds aren’t there to cover it. So, if I do go to Comic-Con this year, it will just be as a convention-goer, not as an exhibitor.

The Toe Update

Here is the message from an e-postcard my friend, Bryan with the toe dilemma sent out Thursday:

greetings fully toed humans,
well i have had my 2nd opinion and oh how his input has affected this current predicament. much gratitude to WAREF AZMEH M.D. for after his opinion that my toe is most probably just has a severe tissue infection and that an amputation is not very likely, unlike what my original M.D. told me. i feel my first M.D. may have been a little trigger happy with the amptation procedure, maybe he hadn’t done one in a while and i looked like i had a good trophy toe.
anyway surgery is still called for I.N.D. specifically. but the funny thing is that after DR. AZMEH conferred his diagnosis with my original M.D., i got a call from him later confirming the I.N.D. procedure and commenting “its good for you that you got that 2nd opinion”. @#%*&@
now had i have been the “no second guessing the doctor type” you might all be callin me stubby. granted i’m not real comfortable with my original M.D. doin the I.N.D. procedure, hopefully he doesn’t get antsy and end up amptuating my toe accidentally on purpose. well thats all until surgery is over.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE HANDICAPPED OR THE SECOND OPINION.

Fucked Up News

My closest friend, Bryan, received some shitty news today. He stepped on something some time ago and it has infected one of his toes (the one next to the Big Toe). The doctor suspects the infection may have reached the bone. If this is the case, he will have that toe amputated this Friday.

He hopes that if he loses this toe the doctor’s can graft a claw or gold knub in its place. This is probably not the case.

Let’s hope he gets to keep the toe.
