U-Stall—-so very clever-hahahaha—–death come soon to me

It’s been a week of parties, puppet shows, and more. Brooks has begun his move to the Hollywood Hills. We loaded up a U-Haul with some of his stuff today. Big surprise it wouldn’t start. We finally got it going after an hour and his stuff is now in its new home. The funny (read shitty) thing is last year when we were all moving to Burbank, the U-Haul broke down on us in the middle of Hollywood and it took 3 hours for them to get us back in action. I sincerely do not plan to use U-Haul anymore. They are crap. Jennifer and I are moving to a sweet pad in Glendale at the end of the month. I’m thinking Ryder, Budget, or someone else is the way to go.

The 100th Mr Fourchinnigan comic-strip is coming very soon. Keep the lids peeled.

This Bitch Be Reading

Working in a bookstore and taking long bus rides assures one thing: I read lots of books now. I probably average a book per week. I remember struggling to get through one book every few months when I worked at the tv station. If you don’t count the shitload of comics & graphic novels and the books I have forgotten, here is the list of books I have read cover-to-cover this year:

Tao Te Ching-Lao Tzu
Tales of the Otori 1: Across the Nightingale Floor-Lian Hearn
Tales of the Otori 2: Grass For His Pillow-Lian Hearn
Eager-Helen Fox
A History of God-Karen Armstrong
Night-Elie Wiesel
A Wild Ride Through the Night-Walter Moers
The Time Machine-H.G. Wells
50 Things You’re Not Supposed to Know-Russ Kick
The Peculiar Memories of Thomas Penman-Bruce Robinson
The Princess Bride-William Goldman
Tezuka School of Animation Vol.1-Tezuka Productions
Gulliver’s Travels-Jonathan Swift
How to Hunt Ghosts-Joshua P. Warren
T. Rex and the Crater of Doom-Walter Alvarez
Rebel Without a Crew-Robert Rodriguez
Faster Than the Speed of Light-Joao Magueijo
Running With Scissors-Augusten Burroughs
The Shortest Distance Between You and a Published Book-Susan Page
Napoleon’s Art of War-Napoleon Bonaparte
Monkey: A Journey to the West
The Little Prince-Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Ishmael-Daniel Quinn
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain-Betty Edwards
Meditation-Eknath Easwaran

Right now I am reading No-Budget Digital Filmmaking by Chuck Gloman to be followed by One River by Wade Davis (who wrote the awesome Serpent and the Rainbow I read last year). I’m trolling through Paradise Lost-Milton off and on as the year progresses. Shit, that’s a lot of books in half a year.

Da For Wun Wun

It has been a fairly good week. I had a great time at Hungtington Beach in Orange County last Saturday. I still need to learn to surf. If any of you out there surf and live near me, take me for a lesson, homes.

Last Friday night, I was taking the bus home after work. I noticed that the guy who got off at the stop before mine had left his books on the bus. It consisted of two journals and a hardcover copy of The Odyssey. Luckily, he had written his phone number on the front page of one of the journals. I gave him a call and he picked up the books a couple of days ago. He insisted I accept a reward check despite my protests. After he had left, I unfolded it and was quite shocked. Forty-five dollars! I expected five, maybe ten. He was really happy I returned the books to him, they were apparently very important to him. In the ‘for’ field on the check, he wrote “for being a good guy.” I’m still not sure if I should cash it ‘though. It feels weird being paid to do something you should do.

Big Up to Matt Pinardi (Sharp Clock). He is the first cool-ass guy to order a personalized picture from my website. Thanks a lot man!

I stopped by this pastry shop in Glendale today. Their pastries are fucking good.
